Because the world of online advertising and internet marketing is such a competitive business, companies are finding it harder and harder to attract a large and valid audience from the internet. As a result of this, companies have to think beyond the more traditional, mainstream advertising techniques and they really have to become more and more creative when trying to come up with advertising techniques this is especially true with small businesses that are just trying to make a name for them self. By far the most common form of blog advertisement involves compensating a blog owner in exchange for their placing a banner or pop-up display advertising your site on their blog. This is one of the advertising techniques that has been around since the dawn of the internet, and as to be expected its success has indeed spilled over to the blogosphere.

Banner and pop-up advertisements can of course vary greatly in size, as can the amount of time that a blog owner is willing to display your banner or pop-up advertisement on their page. But all of this can of course be negotiated, so that you can make sure you are taking advantage of the best kind of advertising techniques that you possibly can as a business owner.

Next on our list of great online advertising techniques is a method known as “link trading”, and this can be a very effective way of gaining exposure to your company’s products or services that you may have never had access to before. And what makes link trading even better is the fact that it won’t cost you a dime. Link trading is exactly what it sounds like – you will place a link to a company or a certain blog on your website, and in exchange a blogger will place a link to your company on their site.

Some blogs have a dedicated page to display links, while others have their links listed right on the front page of their blog. This is another one of the advertising techniques that have been around since the beginning of the internet, and as such it is of course a proven method of online advertisement.

The last of the online advertising techniques that we will cover in this article is paid blogging. This method is rather new compared to the other advertising techniques we have covered here, but it can be just as effective when it comes to online advertising as the others; if not even more. If you choose to go this route when trying out new advertising techniques, you will essentially be paying a blogger to write a review about your company or about the products or services that your company has to offer.

You may want to make sure that the blogger lets his audience know that the post is actually a blog advertisement as opposed to a real review based on personal experience, but on the other hand you might not want them to reveal such information. If their readers think they are reading a genuine product review from one of their favorite bloggers, then they are far more likely to try out the product for themselves then if they just read some random blog advertisement on the internet. The choice is yours of course, and there are plenty of companies online today that utilize both.

Of course there are some important things to consider when trying out new advertising techniques on internet blogs. One of the biggest things to determine is what kind of compensation you are willing to offer for an advertisement. Some companies only offer free merchandise or services in exchange for posting an ad, while others are willing to compensate bloggers with real cash. Once again, the choice is all yours – but finding a blogger that is willing to work for merchandise may be quite a bit more difficult to come by then one who will work for cold hard cash.
